AT&T Gateway Clear and Rescan

After a few months, an AT&T gateway becomes cluttered with junk and is unable to self-correct.

These actions can clear the junk.

  • The most drastic is a factory reset of the switch

  • Power-cycling the gateway, and any attached switches or access points.

  • A less drastic step is to restart the gateway. A restart may require restarting some APs and switches but usually not.

  • An even less drastic steps is to Clear and Rescan the Device List.

In my case, the gateway's Device and Status tabs were showing two lists. The first was a list of hostnames with no IP addresses and the second second was the standard list of IP/hostname.

It is unclear if this cruft causes issues with the gateway operation. I am attempting to figure out why Echo Voice Control, and then the Alexa App and then the WeMo App lose the ability to control WeMo devices (and in that order). Clearing out the cruft and restarting the Gateway seemed like a good place to start.

Directions:

Open a browser and login to gateway. Enter the gateway's IP address (e.g., 168.192.1.254). The username and password are on the side of the gateway.

Select the Device tab

Select Device List subtab

Click Clear and Rescan for Devices
