When my wife and I moved from Texas to Colorado, I upgraded our movie room. It still shares space with the exercise area, which has a weight bench with free weights, a rower, a treadmill, and an elliptical machine.
The previous Colorado homeowner set up a movie theater. But it was not very professional. For example, the wires were run over the walls, and the screen size was small. Also, he didn't leave any equipment. I took down his remaining setup and reoriented the new Optum projector. So I have a 16:9 foot aspect ratio. I ran all the wires behind the walls. And ran electrical to the projector's ceiling mount location.
Components
Amazon FireTV Cube with various streaming services (switched from Roku - not sure FireTV is an upgrade)
Denon Receiver (AVR-S660H)
5:1 Sony Surround Sound System
The screen area is painted flat white. I used a Sherwin-Williams ceiling paint.
The walls were a light beige and had a satin sheen. The color and sheen reflected light when a movie was shown. I painted the walls a rich, flat brown color from Sherwin-Williams. The darker color cut down on reflections and helped define the movie room space.
Tablo Broadcast TV (FireTV Recast was better. Also, my solution was better, but it won't integrate into FireTV. By better, I mean the Tablo has lots of stability issues. Monthly reboots are required. If not exited, or left on for long times, then the Tablo loses its internet connection, and the FireTV needs to be restarted.)
