DEPRECATED: 14NOV2020: I don't recommend MyQ. I bought it when it was on sale.
It was advertised as being Echo compatible. It wasn't.
Someone created a work around for Echo. This worked for a while, but then stopped. I tried to get it to work again, but it doesn't work any more. Apparently, MyQ actively works against the DIY community
A major problem is the hub loses connection with Wi-Fi on a regular basis. There are several steps to get it reconnected. Power-cycling, resetting and the last step is to call MyQ. I had to call MyQ multiple times to get it to work. The last time it failed and I had to call, I just unplugged it.
MyQ is really easy to install. Download the app and follow the instructions
With MyQ, the garage door can be opened by the doorbell within the garage, the garage door's remote, by a SmartPhone, or by a routine or a voice command fr Echo
The sensor checks whether the door is opened or closed, and sends me a text message if the door is open for more than 10 minutes after 10pm, or any time it opens between 12am and 6am. The times are all user controllable.
I connected MyQ to Echo and added the MyQ app and access to my wife's cellphone.
The major issue with MyQ is that it says it Echo compatible. Well, that's a lie.
After a bunch of work, some people have gotten it to work using IFTTT or Kloe SimpleCommands
