The assignment was to draw a scribble on a page. Then we swapped papers with other people and make something out of that scribble that had something to do with our summer. The subject of my drawing was a snake on a trail. I used the scribble for one side of the snake and I used colored pencils.
I chose to draw a snake because I found a lot of snakes last summer. I have always found snakes to be very interesting as well. I tried make a pattern in the snake's skin and I used the scribble for line. I tried to balance the colors of the snake by using contrasting colors. I was originally going to make the scribble a fishing line, but I changed to a snake because I didn't have enough room for the fisherman.
The story behind this is that I was running one morning and I saw this stick-like thing on the path in front of me. I went closer and it turned out to be this really cool snake that I had never seen before. I think the thing I am most proud of is the grass and rock shading. I struggled with making the snake's head. I couldn't really place the snake's eyes right and I felt it wasn't the right shape. In the future, I might take more time in the patterns on the snake's back. I think I felt a little rushed so I just came up with that pattern and didn't really think it out.
