Sustained Investigation #1

Tigers are being poached throughout the world because their bones are said to have traditional medicinal value and their pelts are very valuable. I decided to draw two halves of a tiger, the skull and the face with fur, but the element that relates it back to my inquiry question is the price tag attached to the skull. The price is in rupees, the Indian currency; India is where many tigers are being killed. I have always loved tigers and been fascinated by their faces.

I used 2B and 6B graphite pencils and golden and dark orange Prismacolors. I first started drawing the outline of a full tiger face, not with the skull. Then I drew a line down the middle and drew the shape of the skull where it should be in proportion to the tiger's face. I then started to draw the details of the face and finally added shading and whiskers. Lastly, I colored the tiger's eye to make it stand out; to make it seem like it's looking at the viewer. I was going to have the price tag colored as well, but I decided to leave it because I really want the eye to stand out. Next, I think I would add a little more detail to the skull, maybe by darkening the shading and making more defined fur marks.
