Concentration #2

The assignment was to continue with our concentration (ie. chickens). I started on a clay project and then while I was waiting for those to dry and get fired, I started a new one. I made wire chickens out of silver wire, which is softer than the regular wire and it was easier to work with.

I used shape when I used to contours of a chicken to make a wire outline. I used line in the overall project because its almost like a 3D line drawing. I was originally going to make them 3D but then I wanted it to go on a background, like a foam board. I tried to make the background look interesting and connect with chickens, but I was having problems with that and I didn't like how it looked so I just kept them separate.

I really like working with wire so I thought it would be nice to make one of my concentration pieces be out of wire. I'm proudest of how the tails and feet came out; they look anatomically correct. I struggled with coming up with an idea. I started to do something with sculpey, but I had issues with it so I decided not to continue using it and try to come up with something else. I went on pinterest and tried to find some inspiration, which I did (without copying anyone's work). If I could revise something, I would make them have a hanger on them so they could stay on the wall by attaching a small piece of wire.
