Social/Political Response

DESCRIBE: The subject of this image is the alcohol. The setting is the table. To create this image, I aligned my grandpas traveling collect of mini alcohol bottles and used a blanket as a background so the focus would be on the alcohol. I grouped them altogether in a way that would balance out the sizes and brands. I chose to create this image because alcoholism is very common in my family and I knew my grandfathers collection would work perfectly to exemplify.

ANALYZE: This image shows the composition grouping because the alcohol bottles are all in a clump. It also shows the composition formal balance because the image is equal on both sides, the same thing is happening on both sides. Originally, I was going to put two transparencies, one of the alcohol and another of an ash tray, but then I realized I would be taking away from the main idea of alcoholism.

EVALUATE: The meaning of this image is to bring awareness to alcoholism. My grandfather was in the Navy so he traveled a lot and when he did, he collected little shooter bottles. He had them from all over, showing that alcoholism is everywhere. This relates to my life because alcoholism is a big thing in my family. I have a lot of family members who are alcoholics so I know what happens. I think the image could be stronger if the colors were shown because then you could really see the values and differences in the bottles.
