Primary Color

DESCRIBE:

The subject of this image is the red shed in my backyard. Behind it, is a frozen pond with trees. To create this image, I looked at my surrounding and it was easy to notice this. With the weather, it makes the primary colors, like this red shed, stick out more. I decided that instead of the image being just the shed, I would add composition to make the image different. After the image was captured, I lowered the brilliance, highlights, and shadows in the photos app. I chose to create this image because I liked the grain and pattern in the wood. I also liked how the lights added contrast.

ANALYZE:

This image shows the composition selective focus. The shed itself is very crisp and clear whereas the background and trees are blurry because the focus is only on the shed. It also shows the composition informal balance because on one side of the image, is the shed. On the other side, it is a landscape. Originally, I was going to leave the image as is and not edit it. Then, I was playing around in the photos app and I noticed that the darker red brought out the lights more.

EVALUATE:

The meaning behind this image is to look at the bright side. The composition selective focus allows the person looking at the image to focus specifically on the shed. The shed being a primary color, makes it the "bright side." This relates to my life because whenever I am going through a hard time, I always remind myself to look at the bright side. I think the image could be stronger if the landscape wasn't in the middle of winter because it looks sort of messy. If there was a lot of white and snow it would bring out the red more. Unfortunately, I cannot control the weather so I couldn't do anything about it. I also wish that the lights worked and shined yellow to add emphasis but our dogs chewed the cord and ruined the lights.
