Still Life

DESCRIBE:

The subject of this image is the old wagon wheels. The setting is my driveway, with many different colored leaves and a stone wall. To create this image, I tried to look around my house for anything that could fit the "still life" theme. These old wagon wheels have not moved for as long as I've known. They were always there when I was growing up but I never realized the value it adds to an image. I was happy with how the image looked and no edits or filters looked good to me so I stuck with it. I chose to create this image because I liked the many different colors that the leaves give. The way the sun hits the leaves puts more emphasis on them.

ANALYZE:

This image shows the composition rule leading line. Both the road and rock wall stretch through the image to meet at one point in the end (hill). It also shows the composition sharp focus. The leaves and rocks are very clear and show texture. Originally, I didn't even think I could take this image outside. I was going to create an image indoors using other still life things to create a landscape but then I was inspired with this image and realized it could work.

EVALUATE:

Like I previously said, these wheels have always been against this rock wall but I've never paid much attention to them until now. I realized how much they add to our dooryard. Without them there, it would look boring. So the meaning of this image is that we should pay more attention to our surroundings because you never know if it can help you. These wheels could've helped me with a lot of other projects if I would've noticed the art the show. Now that I've realized this, I will definitely keep them in mind for future projects. I think this image could be stronger if the snow in the ditch had melted. It makes the image look unbalanced because the only snow is in that one spot. I don't like how messy it makes it look. In the future, I would try to capture the image either with more snow or none at all.
