Wynn Bullock Biography

Wynn Bullock was born in Chicago, Illinois on April 18, 1902. He died 73 years later on November 16, 1975 in South Pasadena, California. After high school, he moved to pursue a career in music. Wynn studied at Columbia University in 1925. He then moved to England to further his career but grew an interest in impressionist. This then led him to discover the work of Man Ray and Lazlo Moholy-Nagy. This was the reason why he bought his first camera and started taking photos. Wynn uses photography to make what is invisible to the eye, visible. His photos show close ups on specific things in nature that not many people pay attention to. He shows the beauty in everything. He sees that each thing has its own story. "I didn't want to tell the tree or weed what it a was. I wanted it to tell me something and through me express its meaning in nature." He digs deep into a topic to find its hidden meaning. All of his photos are in black and white. He is well-known because his work was displayed in over ninety major museum collections around the world.
