DESCRIBE:
The subject of this image is the reflection of the trees in the water. The setting is the pond behind my house, not quite completely frozen. I instantly knew that I wanted to use my pond as a reflection for this project. So to create this image, I looked for the area on the pond that reflected the most trees. After I captured this image, I turned it into black and white so the reflection would be more emphasised. I chose to create this image because I knew the pond and ice would work as a perfect reflection. I enjoyed the way the movement of the water caused a pattern in the ice in the background also.
ANALYZE:
This image shows the composition grouping. The grouping of trees and their reflections show clearly. Originally, I took this photo from a side angle but the way the sun hit the ice caused the whole image to be unclear and way too bright. I went under the shade of some trees where the pond was darker to avoid the sun.
EVALUATE:
The meaning of this image is to show that we reflect on the things that surround us. The trees reflect on the pond is the same idea of us reflecting on our decisions. We are a reflection of our decisions. This relates to my life because my parents have always taught my brothers and I that we need to be smart when it comes to choosing our friends. They taught us that who we hang around with will reflect on us and our reputation/future. If we choose troublemaker friends, then that most likely leads to us being troublesome and vice versa. I think this image could be stronger if there wasn't so much going on in the water. It is partially froze with leaves and sticks which is a little distracting from the overall image. Next time, I would try to clear the water or maybe find an angle that could exclude some of those things.
