Being forthright is an important quality to a leader of social change. Being forthright means that you tell the truth and are not afraid to be on the spotlight and, when you do something wrong you tell the truth, and even If you are afraid to tell the truth. Being forthright is similar to being clear and to not lie. The bad thing about being forthright is being blunt and telling the truth but sometimes too much. Malala is forthright because she was shot and people tried to silence her but it just made more people speak up. Being forthright helps both me and Malala speak our truth.
A person who was forthright is Malala. She is from a small village in Pakistan. In that village their religion does not allow girls to go to school, her father started a school for only girls and she went there for a while without being noticed, when the Taliban tried to take her school privileges from her. She fought with her words and she started being on a radio channel and she was not afraid to speak out. In the book I am Malala she says on page 92, "I'm not afraid of anyone. I will get my education. Even If I have to sit on the floor to continue it. I have to continue my education, and I will do it." Then the Taliban noticed that she was speaking out. They told her to stop or they would hurt her but she continued to speak out. she continued to say, like on page 81, "'I have nothing to hide, and I have done nothing wrong. I'm proud to be a voice speaking out for girls' education. And proud to show my identity.'" I chose those quotes because I thought they showed times when Malala was forthright. One day when she was rIding the school bus home her bus stopped then a person came in and shot her. Then she was sent to a hospital in Birmingham. She still continues to speak her mind and talk out and be on the spotlight. Malala is forthright because she is speaking her mind and telling the truth and is not afraid to be on the spotlight
A time when I was forthright is when my mom told me that I could spend fIve bucks on a game I really liked. I thought it was cool because I liked the game a lot. Fast forward a couple days and I wanted to spend some more money, but I knew my mom wouldn't let me, so I spent one dollar . I dIdn't think it was too much money and I dIdnt think she would notice. it dIdn't end there because a couple of days later I spent a little bit more. Then, the same thing happened the day after that untIl a couple days later, when my mom called me upstaIrs after dinner. I knew I had done something wrong, because my mom and dad were both standing upstaIrs. Then, we sat down and we talked. they saId they saw how much I spent and they were very disappointed in me. there were some tears mostly from me (actually all from me). I told them everything and had to talk to the lady at the bank and she saId that she would take the charges away. However I stIll had to pay my parents back the money. I was forthright when I told the truth about spending the money and talked to the person at the bank and told the truth.
For my yard sign I chose grey as my color is because I thought it was seIrus and dark and stood out from the white background. The reason I chose the font bangers is because I thought it stood out and was thick and bold. I chose shadow on my word because I thought it was like being on the spotlight. this means forthright to me because it is bold and stands out and is putting itself out there and that is what forthright means to me.
Being forthright is important to both me and malala. If we were not forthright we would not have told the truth and be on the spotlight. It is important to be forthright because it makes people be honest. This quality relates to leaders of change to makes people talk out. It matters to be forthright because it makes people do small things like my story and big things like Malala’s story. One thing I would have changed in this world with my quality is I would make people speak theIr mind and I feel that would be enough to make a great world.
