Hope is something that every person uses even if you don’t realize it. Hope is a wish that you have that keeps you going. Hope means to me that you can have a goal and hope to reach it. Without hope you give up. Jim Abbott used hope when he tried to break the idea that people with disabilities can not play baseball. I have showed hope when I hope that the world will finally think that a child can make social change. I’ve been told that I can not make a change because I am a child. I hope that no one will think that that is true. Hope helps everyone persevere including Jim Abbott and me.

Jim Abbott used hope when he was doubted that he wouldn’t move onto the next levels of baseball. “...he kept hearing that his playing days would probably end at that level,” pg. 2 in Jim Abbott, by EL Education. Jim hoped that others would see that anybody with a disability can play a sport. EL Education states this by saying, he was an “...inspirational role model for kids with all kinds of disabilities,” from Jim Abbott, pg. 5. He has been doubted yet he still kept going. He has been a role model for others including kids. He has shown that anyone with any disabilities can play sports. Without hope he would have never made it into the baseball leagues.

There are many people that show hope. One of those people is me. I see hope in me when I get doubted that I can’t make a change in our world, I hope that nobody will think that a child can’t make a change in our world. I need hope because without hope I will never believe that there is a chance that I can make a change. Without hope I would not be as open as a person as I am today. In my service crew, I advocate for undocumented immigrants around our area that need help. I am doing this by writing notes in chalk about how they are welcome. I am also helping by making signs about how to help. I use hope when I try to help immigrants. I use hope when I feel like there might not be a way to help, but I hope that there will be a chance that I can help.

It took me a while to make my own hope into a brand, I had to make decisions on the design that connect to the hope that I have. With my experience about hope I have found out more things about it, like sometimes you lose the hope. Other times you can hang on to it. The shadow of my word shows the losing and the gaining of hope, by making it right in the middle of brightness and darkness. The second step was figuring out what color I wanted to use. I wanted to do something that would represent that there is a chance that it may not stick with you but it may stay attached. I chose a medium green for that. I also chose green because according to The Meaning of Colors green means, durability, reliability, well being, nature, calm, and honesty. The last, step is deciding on what font I wanted to use. I chose “Fascinate” because hope is a bold characteristic. It is a characteristic that will never stop being used. The boldness shows how strong hope is, and how it can last forever. Those are the decisions I made for my word.

Hope is believing that you can do it. Hope is an important quality because it is a quality that explains how you can believe in anything you want to believe in. Leaders of social change must have hope because you have to at least think that something can happen in order to accomplish it. Hope lets the leaders believe they have a chance. Hope is something that I use every day in my daily life to get me to think that I can do it. This is why hope is something that we all need because we use it every day even if you don’t realize it.
