Elisa Arana -Daring
To be daring you have to be courageous enough to try something if you dare. When I am daring I have to be ready to take risks, but taking risks doesn’t always mean it has to be dangerous, for example getting in front of a big audience can be risk taking because it could also mean throwing up in front of a audience. Jackie Robinson also uses this factor of success and so do I.
Jackie Robinson is daring in many different ways to help him be successful. In Promises to Keep by Sharon Robinson, page 16 the text says that Jackie as a teenager he was in a street gang that, “didn’t use drugs, drink alcohol or start fights. But they did throw clumps of dirt at passing cars, swipe golf balls and sell them back to golfers, and steel fruit from the local grocers.” This shows a different type of daring but is still daring because he could have got in trouble for doing those things. “The bus driver ordered my father to the back of the bus, a section for black people only. Dad ignored the command.“ In the army Jackie Robinson was daring and courageous because black people were not allowed in the front of the bus but it was not the law. The text also says “ he knew his rights as a soldier”. Jackie robinson shows this factor of successes by being courageous and trying new things that are out of his comfort zone.
I am daring because I go out of my comfort zone and I like to take on challenges like doing something for the first time. I need this quality in my life because I won’t have as much successes if I’m not bold or courageous. One time I was daring was when when I had to talk in front of the whole school during All School Crew, I felt very nervous at first but I was able to get through it by staying strong. I can be daring to bring change by being daring and courageous enough to present a speech in front of a big audience.
While creating my yard sign for 5th grade campaign for leadership I had to make many design choices. I chose the font, frijole because I feel like sometimes to be daring you have to to take risks and this font to me shows risk taking. I chose the colors red, dark blue, yellow, black, light blue and burgundy because to be daring I don’t always have to take a risk.
To be daring is important to people who led social change. This quality is important because when you are daring you are able to do more things because you won’t be as afraid. This quality relates to leaders and social change because leaders of social change use this quality to help them. This matters because without this quality leaders of social change wouldn’t be as successful.
