A quality a leader uses is courage. I think courage means to have strength when you face pain and grief. When I think of courage I think it would be a good thing having in your life because you can’t let people be rude to you. Both Jackie Robinson and I show courage by ignoring what people say and always doing what we like even if people disagree.
A leader who demonstrates courage is Jackie Robinson. Jackie used courage by not listening to the people telling him he can’t play baseball, but he didn’t listen and kept playing. A quote from the book, Promises to keep is “...fans started yelling at the Dodger captain…..telling him that a southerner shouldn’t be playing..with a black man.” In the major leagues he felt like he was lonely, but one day his teammates included him and let him hang out with him. In page 38 it says, “ He said that he felt the loneliness most when the team traveled…..The team warmed up to my dad...they invited him to join in their card games.” That shows courage by trying to still be happy doing something he likes doing. Even though he felt kind of lonely he still kept going. Jackie Robinson brought something good to this world because of courage. He broke the color barrier because he had courage, and he used it by doing what he loved even if people told him he can’t do that.
I see courage in my self because I don’t care to much when people say I can’t do this, or when they talk bad about me. I have needed this quality in my life because I have needed courage in my life, so I don’t give up and not to try to be sad. One example is, when i’m sad I try to think about good things and not to give up on things. One time when I was sad was when something happened to one of my family members in Mexico my mom was upset and then I was upset. Then I thought of good things and I don’t think of the negative thoughts. I use courage to bring change by helping people by telling them to have courage, when they feel like they can’t do something, and they can do what makes them happy.
In my sign that has a word that I think am, I was doing the font, and color that I think will match my word best. For the font I used Carter one because it was bold, and when I think about courage I think of it being bold. The color I chose was red because I feel like the color red is a color that won’t be afraid or care what people say and ignore, and stay strong. One time that I showed courage by ignoring wasn’t too long ago, when I was playing basketball there was some girls, sitting in the shade looking at me and my friend, and talking while looking at us. Then me and my friend felt uncomfortable but I told her to ignore them and we can do what we want, and it won’t matter what they say.
Both Jackie Robinson and I both show courage by ignoring people who say we can’t do this or that, or talking bad. We still do what our heart wants us to do. Courage is important because if you like doing something you shouldn't care what people say because it’s your life not the people who are being rude to you. This matters because you can’t let people push you around because your doing something you like doing. One thing I would like to change in this world is seeing people use more courage. Only some people use courage and, seeing more people use courage will be good because if people don’t care what people say about them then everyone will be confident to do what they like doing.
