The meaning of determination is to face a challenge and to achieve something. A leader of social change that has used determination is Janet Guthrie, she was determined to show men that women have the same rights as men to race at the track too. I also use determination. For example, I was playing a game with my friends and I had determination to win the game. Determination helps both Janet Guthrie and I change our world and make it better.

Janet Guthrie is a leader of social change because she sent a message to the world. People said that a woman does not belong in a race car but she showed that all women can race. In Janet Guthrie Pioneered the Fast Lane by NASCAR.com, her coach Rolla Vollstedt said, “‘You will never be a winning driver, because no one will ever give you a winning car, because you are a woman.’” NASCAR.com also said “As Earnhardt Jr. said: ‘She didn’t just race once or twice then disappear. She was very good.’” This shows that Janet Guthrie was determined to race and not give up. She was able to send the message that she believed that women can do anything.

Another person who is determined is me because I have used determination in many parts of my life. An example at school is when we play soccer even though we keep losing, I sometimes use determination to make a goal and win. Another time I have had to use determination is when I do service crew, service crew is a crew that helps our community. For my service I helped the homeless get healthy food. I had to use determination to do this because I had to organize all the food. I can use determination to make positive social change by continuing to help the homeless.

In order to make my personal determination into a brand, I had to make some specific choices. I chose Comic Sans MS because it really stands out and it's really smooth, then I have a shadow in the back that means that everything is sometimes not always smooth. And there are squares in the corners which means that sometimes you have to use determination to focus on you're doing. I chose red as a color because it inspires the word and inspires me at the same time.

Determination helps both Janet Guthrie and me to create a better world. Being determined is an important part of people's lives especially when there is a challenge in their way. Both Janet Guthrie and I believe in others and in ourselves. Determination allows me to believe in myself and help others. It is important to have determination because if you are facing a challenge you can succeed.
