Creativity is an important quality for people who lead social change. Creativity means the use of imagination or having original ideas. I think that creativity is helpful because you can get amazing ideas or it can be really cool. Wangari Maathai and I both show creativity by helping people and coming up with ideas to help the world.
A leader who demonstrates this quality is Wangari Maathai. She lives in Kenya and in a stage of her life everybody was suffering for hunger. When Wangari was still alive all of the soil that they needed to plant the vegetables flew away because there was no trees. When Wangari came up with that idea to plant trees, it helped the soil not fly away because it keeped the soil still . Something she said is “why not plant trees” she is showing that she can help people somehow. On page 18 in Planting the trees of Kenya it says “Wangari was not one to give up, and she showed others how not to give up.” A change that she made is helping the people in Kenya and she also helped the woman plant trees and make them believe in themselves and to not give up.
I see this quality in myself because I am sometimes creative but mostly I try to find a way to help someone, just like Wangari Maathai. I have needed creativity in my life when I write or draw I get ideas and I get creative. For example, during art or even while i’m at my house because I come up with creative ideas, some ideas are going to the park, pick up trash or even like helping my neighbors, or other people just helping the community in general is amazing.
When we were making our yard signs. I choose the font Ultra because I thought it was bold and it kind of looked like bubble letters I thought that was creative because it makes the word look fun and I think creativity is full of fun. I picked a dark yellow and then a blue for a outline because I thought that looked creative also not a lot of people put outlines, around the word and they don’t think about putting those two colors together.
Wangari Maathai and I both show creativity by helping people and coming up with that ideas to to help the world. Creativity is important because it helps you get smart ideas and, you can be original and however you want it to be like. I think leaders use creativity because they have their own reasons on leading social change. For example, Wangari she decided to plant trees. This matters because you can be original in your own ways and if you have and if you have a problem how can you solve it without creativity.
