1. Have a class discussion about the details we can write.

2. Recap what we need to write a paragraph.

3. Make a copy of the template.

4. Fill out the template.

5. Edit (self, peer and then teacher) and then publish! When publishing, make sure that you are posting your writing - not the template.

Week 5 - Film Festival

WALT: create positive blog comments


Instructions

Yesterday we were lucky enough to go to the 12th annual Manaiakalani Film Festival.

Today we are going to go and watch movies from other schools and leave a positive and quality blog comment on their films.

You will need to watch the movie then create a thoughtful and quality blog comment to place on the class blog. You will need to draft this in the slide provided and show me before you post on the class blog.

Week 4 & 5 - Haiku poems

Instructions

This week we are going to learn how to craft a haiku. It is a type of poetry that has a set of rules that you must follow. For a haiku the first line has 5 syllables, the second line has 7 syllables and the 3rd line has 5 syllables. This week you will practice syllables and then write your very own haiku.

Week 2 & 3- Narrative Writing

WALT: create a detailed and descriptive narrative.


Instructions

This week we are going to complete two pieces of writing

  • Getting to school recount: this will be a recount that you will write about how you came to school today. Make sure:
    • That it is past tense
    • That it is in the right order
    • Has capital letters, full stops and paragraphs
    • Keep one idea per paragraph
  • Narrative: you will need to use the image to help your write what is going on. Your narrative will be telling people about what is happening in the image as if they were there.

Week 1 - Recount Writing

WALT: create a descriptive recount that makes sense.


Instructions

  • Welcome back to term 4! This term is a very busy term so we are going to kick it off right away with starting a recount.
  • You have two options you can write a recount about your holiday's or make up your own from another time.
  • We will look at example of a recount and will go over your new one step by step so that you can write the best recount.
