Education plays a significant role in a child's education. It takes involvement from the teacher and the parent. Parent involvement can help mold children's mindsets when it comes to education. Wanting to build that relationship between a teacher and a parent is very beneficial to keeping open communication when it comes to a child. Having this communication can help the child when it comes to their struggles and their achievements. Parent involvement can mean many things, and this is how we can achieve it.

“What does parent involvement mean in education?”
The definition of parent involvement is stated as “parent-reported participation at least once during the school year” (Parental Involvement in Schools - Child Trends, 2017). Parent involvement is much more than just showing up; it is about being involved in a child’s education in one way or another. Parent involvement can consist of monitoring how much television time is allowed at home, monitoring homework, and reading with your child (Klein & Ballantine,1999). These are some simple things that parents can do to show their child that they are interested in their education. Invoking various kinds of questions about school can help students be more open to their parents about what they are learning (Gierer, 2006). Parent involvement plays a key role in a child’s education. It consists of parents and teachers having open communication towards each other and making efforts on both ends for the benefit of the student.

This is a time for the teachers and parents to be in contact with each other for the best interest of each child. It has shown many benefits to the child's education. They are able to have a better outlook towards school, higher academic achievements, and are more likely to go onto higher education (Secada 1989). Overall, parent involvement is something all teachers should encourage in the classroom. It should always feel welcoming for the student's and the parent's.
