I am a senior, English major with Teaching Preparation, and Lifeguard at ODU (and yes, my hair is blue!).
I hope to teach high school English, possibly close to my hometown of Arlington, VA.
I am a loving cat mom of a 6 1/2-year-old menace named Gus! He's my ESA here on campus with me.
Don't let the cute face and turtle friend Mr. Tiddles fool you... This little man is a conniving scoundrel!
Hobbies and Interests
I love playing Dungeons and Dragons with my friends! I have over 15 sets of dice in my possession.
Speaking of D&D, I make embroidered dice bags!
My favorite book as of right now is "Angels and Demons" by Dan Brown, the prequel to the Robert Langdon (Da Vinci Code) series
Oh yeah, I'm a section leader for the ODU Monarch Marching Band's Color Guard! Come to game days in S.B. Ballard Stadium and you'll likely see me cheering on our football team in the stands!
How to help students with anxiety and depression disorders not only as a teacher but as someone with these disorders
The importance of internal motivation in school
What it really means to learn something in a classroom
How to be patient when a student is struggling with a particular concept
What I Need to Learn
How to work better in an instructional team rather than as an individual
How to keep calm in moments of high stress/high tension
How to properly plan for a day's lesson and integrate new technology as it comes
Let's see, who will I be in the future? Definitely still a cat mom, maybe with another cat to keep Gus company while I spend my days at school. Maybe I'll continue in my love affair with the arts and marching band. What I do know about the future is that I will not be the teacher who drones on every day with the same old lesson plan. I intend to have fun in the classroom and hopefully bring some excitement with me to school. I want to be the teacher whose students can't wait to be in class with. As teachers, we see ourselves and each other as what we want to see us... In the simplest terms, in the most convenient definitions. But what we will find out is that each one of us is...
a brain
an athlete
a basket case
a princess
and a 'criminal'.
Does that answer your question?
