What I Need To Learn
I need to learn more about the foundations of teaching and the aspects of education seen daily.
I’m excited to learn more about ways to be an effective teacher and how to plan lessons.
I have a lot to learn about how and what to do when put in a difficult situation.
I will challenge myself to learn more about my student’s backgrounds. It’s sometimes hard to understand where others are coming from because we haven’t been in their shoes. I don’t want to make anyone feel uncomfortable and feel that they can’t communicate any issues with me. This also includes my student’s culture. I think it’s important to learn about other cultures and religions other than my own to see different perspectives and points of view.
I want to learn more about being open-minded and letting my students have an open mind about their feelings during discussions.

The Teacher I Will Become
I believe the purpose of school is to learn in an open environment where social skills, testing skills, personal, vocational, and academic skills are created. The teacher I will become will teach my students the purpose of hard work, drive, and the importance of always having an open mind. They will learn this through open discussions in the classroom and keeping up with any assigned assignments. I will help create a schedule that will work with them, and if they have any concerns about anything, I want them to tell me what their issue is. I want to create an open and comfortable environment where we can all work together to create a place where we will always have each other’s back, take accountability for one another, and work together to work through the highs and lows of school. I plan to teach what I think is important for the course and what is required to be taught. I also want to hear my students’ input on what we are learning and maybe give them some say in future lessons.
My educational philosophy is a mix of perennialism, progressivism, and social reconstructivism. I plan to teach vocally in front of the class, learning about the classics, but I also want them to learn through discussion and each other. One word to describe me as a teacher would be supportive, and two words to describe my students would be critical thinkers. If someone came into my classroom, I hope they see a room full of energy and good discussions. Finally, I want and hope to teach my students in a way that they will never forget.
