Who I Am: I am a junior studying English with a focus in Teaching. I grew up in Herndon, Virginia. I am a lover of stories of all kinds: books, movies, shows, theater, video games, etc. As I am a lesbian, I care very deeply about LGBTQ related issues. I want to become a teacher because I want to share what I love with the generations to come. I also want to be someone I never had growing up. I never had much support from my teachers whether I was struggling with the class, dealing with bullies, dealing with family issues, or just showing an interest in what I care about. I want to make sure other kids don't fall through the cracks
What I know: I know how to analyze a story. I know how to write a good paper. I know I can help other people make their papers better as would sometimes help people in school.
What I Need To Learn: I need to learn how to manage a classroom of teenagers. I haven't been in a high school since I graduated, but I know how teenagers can be. I often saw some of my nicer teachers get pushed around by their students. I need to know how to be a teacher that students like while still commanding respect from them
The Teacher I Will Become: I want to be a teacher students are comfortable talking to and enjoy learning from. I want to be someone students can rely on for help with their problems in or out of the classroom.
