Hey! I'm Justin Moses. I am currently a PST at Old Dominion University, a major in History with emphasis in secondary education, an avid learner of East Asian history and culture, someone who believes they can truly make a difference, and one of your teaching assistants for this semester of TLED301.
I am a lover of culture. I collect many different things. I read before bed. But more importantly, I love to help others and teach whenever I have the opportunity. Growing up not many people pushed me to be more than just average but I always felt like I had the ability to bring out the best in others. The reason I want to teach is to make an impact on those who really need someone and to impart my knowledge onto the next generation in hopes that they will learn and grow. I hope to work with low-socioeconomic students and provide the opportunities to succeed.
I know that no matter what I have to do my best to help my students and give them the tools to succeed after leaving my class.
I know that the worst students will be there everyday, and they need you the most.
I know that I cannot make a difference with every student, but that will not keep me from trying.
I know that positives always outweigh negatives, and this should be part of your teaching.
I know that I love working with students, from kindergarten to ODU.
I know much about Asian History.
I know that everyone should be included, and it is okay to do more for those who need those accommodations.
I know that no matter what, I am going to be a great teacher.
I would love to learn more about lesson planning and building a curriculum with my peers.
I need to know more about school systems and their practices, and how they are different from one another.
I have to learn to be more compassionate, even for the smaller things.
I want to learn more about ancient history.
I still have more to learn from Dr. Kidd.(Great resource!)
I need to learn to procrastinate less.
I need more experience with live classroom management. I want to learn more about student's behaviors during a school year. I can't wait to learn about working with unique children or those who need a little more effort.
I have still yet to learn if I have made a difference.
I hope to become not only a successful teacher, but one who enjoys going to work everyday to make a positive difference in people's lives.
I want to become the teacher who the students are glad to see, one that they can talk to about anything, a person they can trust.
I will become a teacher who not only shows students how to improve, but congratulates them for all of their successes and walks them through their failures.
I hope to become a teacher that people can respect, look up to, and possibly think about this as a career.
I hope to empower all of my students, regardless of race, gender, economic status, and show them that not only can you do well in school but outside of it as well.
I will become the teacher with the lame jokes everyday that leave the students groaning but begging for one if I miss a day of class.
I will become what I always wanted to be, a teacher.
