Print & Photo Media & Art Education
My name is Kweku. I consider myself multi-talented but a master of none. I grew up in Woodbridge, VA but my family is from Ghana. We have people located just about everywhere across the globe.
I specialize in photography, videography, and fitness training. Which is why I am planning on going into teaching for photography. I am working towards a second/third degree in Print/Photo Media and Art Education then working towards a Master's degree as well.
I believe it's best to always be willing to learn and listen, no matter the age group. As that is how we learn.
Seeing as my central goal is to become a teach/educator/professor.
I know a few things in the subject matter due to my experiences in life such as how to convey words to that various backgrounds and age groups can understand.
I understand how to keep a subject interesting and not ramble on a subject.
I also know how to create projects/assignments that can open up problem-solving situations regardless of the subject.
Lastly, I believe I know how to engage with students (or in my situation, viewers).
Although I know a few things in this field, there are still things I want to know.
I want to know how to keep an immediate group hooked in the lesson.
I want to know how to apply lesson plans to be familiar to people of multiple cultural backgrounds.
I also would like to learn how to know the signs if someone or group of people don't understand what I am speaking about.
The idea of teaching to me is being able to still learn from the students as well. I plan to be an "open-eared educator"
Cue philosophy:
The teacher I want be is the teacher that is always willing to learn from his students;
I plan on engaging my students through interesting approaches to art/photography. Creating lessons that allow students explore not just taking pictures of people and landscapes but even adding in some of my personal projects that combine arts with technology.
This allows me to be a teacher that can engage a set of students so much that they end up thinking far further in an idea they may have never thought about and thus taking it far further than I ever planned.
A teacher that people can come to as simply a trustworthy person to see as a peer and not just a lecturer;
The idea of a teacher to me is a person who can engage, communicate, and motivate the student to surpass him/her.
