Who Am I?
The year is 1997. February 13th, 1997 to be exact, the day a future teacher was born. I was born in Fairfax, Virginia but raised in Lorton until I moved to my current city... Woodbridge. I am a 24 year old student at Old Dominion University, majoring in Elementary Education. I come from a big family, I am 1 of 9 siblings and 1 of many cousins. We are a tight-knit group, never too far away.
Since childhood, the seed was planted in me, while in elementary school, that I would grow older and become a teacher. I watched as my favorites teachers guided lectures and handled my peers. I wanted to be just like that.
What I know...
I have certification in Abuse and Neglect, CPR and First Aid, Dyslexia Awareness as well as experience working in the Childcare industry. I have prepared lesson plans, daily schedules, and had to be in constant communication with parents, co-teachers, and directors. I am able to do basic assessments each term and interact with children accordingly.
I know how to have fun and let the children be involved in their learning process! Whether it's being hands on with learning or finding a fun way to teach a lesson, kids enjoy enthusiasm and a safe learning environment. Play is a part of their learning and a way to help social skills.
In the classroom, I know how to be courageous and kind with little learners and create a welcoming space they can come into. I help creativity and prosocial behavior as well as how to teach the basics of manners to colors and numbers!
The Teacher I will become...
I will become a better teacher by discovering areas of concern in my students and helping them understand that anything is possible when someone is there to help guide you in the right direction. I hope to lead my students to success while having fun and making education a joyous opportunity!
I will become diligent in finding ways to relate to my students and work with them as much as possible. I will include hands on activities for visual learners and have step-by-step lessons for those who need to go at a slower pace.
I will be open to new ideas and open to continuous learning from my students. I will have a safe and open space for children to come!
