Students will be able to explain the importance of mindfulness in the classroom
Mindfulness is defined as being conscious of one's surroundings and staying composed despite what is going on around them (Mindful, 2020). So what is mindfulness in the classroom? Mindfulness in the classroom can be seen as practicing mindful strategies through teaching and learning. It is meant to help students be aware of their emotions and surroundings. How can we incorporate mindfulness in the classroom then?
Mindfulness is not just about teaching students to meditate and be calm. It is about helping students be aware of their emotions and environment. There are many ways to practice it in the classroom and they tend to have a positive impact on students. As it does help the students in their school environment, the skills they learn throughout the journey stick with them even after they graduate (Albrecht et al, 2012). However, this lies on teachers and school districts to apply it to their curriculum. Would you consider incorporating mindfulness into your classroom?
