Hi everyone,
My name is Gabrielle Mosher and I am currently a junior at ODU. I am a non traditional student who transferred from Tidewater Community College. My major is elementary education and I hope to teach third through fifth grade when I graduate.
Growing up I loved everything about school. I loved to read, I loved the relationships that I made, and I loved to learn. Despite how much I loved school, I didn't always know that I wanted to become a teacher. I started my college journey as a nursing major and struggled to find my place, and I eventually dropped out. It was not until my stepson came into my life that I realized how much I loved helping him learn and navigate his way through new experiences that I knew I wanted to continue to do so with other students. I have seen firsthand from my mother who has been a middle school teacher for over thirty years, the impact an amazing teacher can have on a student's life, and I strive to be that type of role model for my future students.
Here is a little video introduction about me!
This is my rescue cat James, he is my angel sent from heaven. He loves belly scratches, catnip, and food. His favorite dish is chick fil a nuggets, don't forget the sauce.
David is my Kenyan sand boa that I rescued earlier this year. He is a small but perfect. He loves to bury under his sand, crawl on peoples heads, and try to escape. His favorite dish is pinky mice.
Here are my pets!
This is Ozzie, my Australian Shepherd rescue. He is my very special boy. Ozzie loves to play tug of rope, go on long walks, and bother James. His favorite dish is anything that is not dog food.
My amazing family
I still have much to learn when it comes to being in charge of a classroom. I do know every child is different and unique, and I will embrace every difference and try to make a connection. I know that there will be many challenges that I will have to face and overcome as I start my career. I may not be the most important teacher to every child I will teach, but I know that I will always try to make an impact on their lives in one way or another.
There are many things that I aim to achieve as a teacher. I want to creative a space that makes each of my students feel safe and heard, while opening their minds to new ideas, cultures, and customs. I believe in student centered, project based learning that sparks student creativity and allows them to become invested in what they are doing. My goal is to help students form a positive relationship with education so that learning will be a fun experience for them. My classroom will always be a safe haven, and I hope to become a role model for my kids. If I am able to have a major impact on just one child's life, then I know that my career choice will have been worth it.
I believe that project based learning is a better alternative to many traditional teaching styles and is something I plan on encouraging in my classroom.

Learning never stops, and there are still many things that I will need to learn before I become a teacher. No two students will ever be the same. My students will come from many different backgrounds, and they will each have their own stories. I will need to learn how to make a meaningful connection with each student so that they can thrive in my classroom. Every student is going to have their own learning requirements
