I feel like the answer to this prompt changes every time I answer it, which (hopefully) just means that I am growing as a person.
The first thing I tell people about myself is that I am a dog mom. Last October my husband and I adopted a bright red hound named Gerald. He is my greatest accomplishment and has changed my life for the better.
One of the biggest parts of my life has been being a military dependent. I've been a military child my entire life and just recently became a military spouse.
I am a junior at ODU majoring in elementary education, hoping to teach first or second grade.
Just want to say that your comment on how your dog Gerald has changed your life for the better really hit me, dogs are wonderful and really do change our lives for the better. Also, I love the picture of him. He is adorable. I also really relate to the idea of wanting to become a teacher who everyone can count on. The profession of an educator is really such a huge responsibility. I think knowing the roles we can play as a teacher makes us want even more to be deserving of those roles. Good luck to you throughout your education and career! - Kayla Weekley
Hi Kearsten! I love how your dog has changed your life for the better, I love dogs their wonderful pets and it's like having a bestfriend. Since I've moved to Norfolk I have wanted a dog since mine are back in my hometown, but soon enough me and my boyfriend are going to get one when we move in together next year. When becoming a Future Teacher Classroom Mangement seems to be a big part and that's definitely something I need to learn as well. You did an amazing job on your page. - Megan Belden
