School is not something that has come easy for me. I have always had to work extremely hard for success, while this can be frustrating it has also showed me that hard work can get you anywhere. In the past school was not something I enjoyed going to, and I want to change that for other students! My mother has inspired me to be a teacher, as she has been teaching for 30 years! I have learned so much from her and am so lucky to have her to support me while I am going through this process!
What I have to learn:
I need to learn how to be a confident instructor.
I need to learn that not everyday will be an extremely productive day, but that is okay.
I need to learn more about learning disabilities that I am unfamiliar with and how to help a student dealing with one.
I need to learn how to stay calm in a situation that is unplanned for.
I need to learn how to become a morning person!
I need to learn how to make my lessons fun and exciting for the students.
I need to learn how to not become too lenient, but still understanding.
I need to learn more math skills because I still struggle with that myself.
I need to learn how to make my classroom an inviting space that my students will want to be in.
Philosophy- Progressivism
I want to be the teacher that in 10 years a student will look back and say "ahhh I miss that teacher." I want to be the teacher that not only makes a difference in the classroom but also beyond the buildings walls. I want to be helpful, caring, and understanding. I want to make sure every person in my room feels like they can voice how they are feeling to me. A teacher is more than someone that is giving a child an education; a teacher is a mentor, listening ear, and trusted adult. I want my classroom to be student centered, I as a teacher will be flexible and allow for change in order to give my class the best education possible. If someone walked into my room I would want them to see me being hands on and interactive. My goal will be to be the best teacher for the students I am with!
