Who I Am
Who I Am
Hey everyone!! My name is Jasmine Rodwell. I am 27 years old and a mom to a wonderful boy named Matthew and a fur baby named Klaus. Taking care of a house and two little gremlins is a full-time job, while working part time. I was born and raised in Florida. I have two older brothers and a younger brother and sister. I am introverted but I tend to open once I get comfortable. I was a quiet kid growing up. I spent most of the time in my room reading books. I would say that I would read close to 15 books a month. I move to Virginia in 2015 when I joined the Navy, where I served for five years. I am now a junior at ODU and I am currently working on my BA in Elementary Education.
What I Know
How we are as teachers will impact our students beyond the classroom.
To let students know that there is a life and future beyond school. It is not the end all, be all.
Be patient, be imaginative, be fair, be understanding, empathize, and listen,
Breathe! Inhale! Exhale! Repeat!!!!!!!!!!
How to address sensitive and controversial topics
How to not be hard on myself when things don’t go as planned
Don't be afraid to ask for help
I love to learn, and I love telling my finding to others. I love doing science experiment and finding how things works. I love reading and finding the meaning behind what the other wrote. I love turning history into a gossip story what makes people want to pay attention. And though math is frustrating at times, I love the moment where everything clicks, and I figure out the answer. It is for these reasons that I want to become a teacher. I want to make learning fun. The goal is to have my students understand what it is that they are learning. But most importantly, the teacher that I want to become is one that students can go to when they need someone to listen. We go through a lot as teenagers and sometimes we feel that we are not heard or that our voices don’t matter. I want my students to know that they matter.

15 books a month!!! Oh my goodness!!! I wish I had that kind of dedication when I was younger. One thing that stood out to me was your what I have to learn. You said, how to address sensitive and controversial topics and I think that is exactly what we will have to face in the future. Most people tend to not say or want to talk about those two to avoid controversy/arguments. You're the first person I have seen to mention that so thank you! I have a lot of respect for elementary teachers so good luck! Also, thank you for your service!! Wish you the best!-Jackson Robles
Hi Jasmine! You have a beautiful family! I know you'll be a strong teacher because- two geminis? you can handle anything. You seem like you will be a very motivating and caring teacher that will make things very fun in the class. I enjoy doing experiments too and I also love doing art work as well. You are very knowledgable and will do great. -Caitlin Z
Hi Jasmine!! Thank you so much for you service, it is truly appreciated. I liked how you talked about making treaching fun like how you said turning history into a gossip story. That is a really unique way to go about history and I find that quite interesting. I wish you the best of luck in everything that you do!!! - Jordan Burt
