What is the midpoint of a segment?
It's simply the halfway point of a line segment. The distance from the midpoint to point A is equal to the distance to point B. Or, if you folded that line segment in half, the fold would be at point M.
Finding the midpoint of a line segment on a number line (like above), is pretty simple. You're really just finding the average of the two points.

We also need to find the midpoint of line segments in two-dimensions (on the coordinate plane).
This is the same process as a line segment, except that you need to find the average of the x-coordinate and the average of the y-coordinate:
