This project will replace a test as the summative grade for Unit 3 (meaning, it's worth a lot)
You will calculate the height of a tall object using a shorter object and the shadows of both. Both objects must be vertical.
You will present your findings to the class on Wednesday/Thursday of this week. Everyone should be ready by Wednesday.
This is the final grade for this trimester (grades will be submitted at the end of the week)
The height of the shorter object (such as you, or something else you can measure that is vertical)
The length of the shadow of the shorter object (from your feet to the end of your shadow)
The length of the shadow of the taller object (from the base of the object to the end of the shadow)
Let's go measure some stuff! You will need help to measure, but you may not work together on the project.
Please be cautious outside when measuring shadows. Look out for cars.
Begin your presentations! You can hand-write your math and take pictures for your presentation, or you can use a math editor to write your equations on the computer.
Google docs has an equation editor that's pretty good.
