I can factor perfect square trinomials using a shortcut method.

If you can write it like this, it's perfect square trinomial. Here are the steps:

1. Rewrite the first and last terms as perfect squares (if you can't write them as perfect squares, you can't use this method)

2. Multiply 2 * a * b     If this is equal to the middle term of your trinomial, this is a perfect square trinomial! Simply write your factors:

• (a + b)^2 (if the middle term is positive)

• (a - b)^2 (if the middle term is negative)
