Mr. Tony (Tony Gouge) has only been at NCS for 8 months, but he is already making a huge impact leading our social emotional programs on campus.
Our WEB program is thriving. Well-trained 8th grade WEB leaders take their mentoring roles serious!

Overview: Do you have a current 8th grader? Join us at for the Secondary Showcase Night. This is a great opportunity to learn about the high school options offered across our community. There will be representatives and students from each of the charter and school district options in Natomas. Come learn about PFAA and ECA options at Natomas Charter School, as well as visit with Westlake Charter, Inderkum IB and CECA, NP3 and more.

Our counseling staff has put together an outstanding "Green Ribbon Week" scheduled for September 9-13. This week builds on Suicide Prevention Week to include critical topics around mental health awareness. Please review the details from Mr. Tony below, and take note of the presentation times in the theater for each grade level.
Purpose of Green Ribbon Week:
Green Ribbon Week aims to increase awareness about the importance of mental health and suicide prevention. It seeks to provide valuable information on recognizing signs of distress and to promote open conversations and support systems within our community. Our goal is to ensure every student feels valued, supported, and equipped with the tools to seek help when needed.
Activities and Programs:
Throughout the week, students will participate in age-appropriate discussions, workshops, and activities designed to:
Educate students about mental health and the signs of emotional distress.
Promote coping strategies and resources for managing stress and anxiety.
Encourage students to seek help and support one another.
Student Assembly - Parents are Welcome at the Grade Level Assemblies in the Benvenuti Theater
Please join us in the theater for developmentally appropriate discussions on mental health and suicide prevention. Come to the specific time for your students grade level. Please arrive a few minutes ahead of time and wait in front of the theater. We will come and let you in, so you can hear about how to promote mental health and well-being with out students.
8th Grade: Monday, September 9th at 8:20 a.m.
7th Grade: Wednesday, September 11th at 9:30 a.m.
6th Grade: Friday, September 13th at 1:20 a.m.

Green Ribbon Commitment: The lime green ribbon symbolizes hope, and wearing it shows a willingness to talk openly about mental health, suicide prevention, and other difficult topics, especially those related to suicide.

Develop Positive Language: Avoid phrases like "you just have to get through it" or "math was hard for me too". Instead use phrases like "keep practicing and you'll get it, you always do" or "if we work through this together, we can definitely get it".
Develop Math Facts: Students needs automated math facts. Make sure that your students is able to do all of the following:
Multiplication Tables (up to 12x12)
Basic Addition and Subtraction (single and multi-digit numbers)
Basic Division (single and multi-digit numbers)
Converting Fractions to Decimals (and vice versa)
Finding Percentages (e.g., 10%, 25%, 50%, 75%)
Order of Operations (PEMDAS: Parentheses, Exponents, Multiplication and Division, Addition and Subtraction)
All student restrooms on the Blackrock campus are outfitted with vape sensors. These sensors are an important tool to help us keep our campus safe, but can be triggered by any aerosol device. To prevent unnecessary alerts and disruptions, please ensure that students do not bring aerosol products to school, including spray deodorant, body spray, hairspray, dry shampoo, etc. Your cooperation helps us maintain a focused learning environment.
