Overview: LEAP has noticed the costs of field trips have gone up this year, and we appreciate our community's ongoing support in covering these fees. To help offset expenses and gradually rebuild our fundraising efforts at Leading Edge, we're introducing a new annual event—the Bingo and Silent Auction Night. We have a goal of raising $5,000 to offset the costs of next year's trips.
Tickets: On sale January 19th
Two Ways to Support the Event
Overview: Please be aware that January 15 is Martin Luther King Day, and January 16 is designated as an in-service day for staff. On these days, there will be no school. NCS holds three all-staff in-service days annually. We aim to schedule these days adjacent to holidays and three-day weekends to better accommodate your family's schedule.
Updates to COVID-19 Guidance
As we have throughout the pandemic, NCS continues to update COVID-19 guidance when new information is provided by state and local public health officials. Earlier this week the California Department of Public Health and CalOSHA released updated guidance for handling COVID cases. This approach is a more symptoms-based approach to treating the illness similar to how we already handle the common cold, influenza, and other viruses. There is no longer a 5-day waiting period after the on-set of symptoms or a positive test result.
Moving forward when a student tests positive for COVID or has symptoms they need to follow these steps.
Seek treatment from a healthcare provider if you have significant symptoms or are at a higher risk for serious illness.
Stay home until 24 hours have passed with no fever, without using fever reducing medication, and symptoms are mild or improving.
It is recommended that you wear a mask for 10 days after the onset of symptoms or when you tested positive.
COVID-19 is active in our community and families have reported cases since returning from Winter Break. Natomas Charter School continues to have test kits available in each of our front offices.
Details: Our staff will take care of CECA and IB teacher recommendations for all students, you do not need to request them. In December, homeroom teachers will have 8th grade students indicate which programs they are applying to. Our staff will then complete the recommendations. Admin coordinates with the CECA and IB programs to ensure all LE students have their materials in correctly.
