Details: Over the past month, we have received a few reports of cyberbullying among students (mostly Tiktok and Discord) and racial language being used on campus and in group chats. We implore our parents to have conversations with students regularly and monitor online activities. Large group chats and discord are not safe spaces and often lead to hurt feelings and bullying. Please review the student survey that is going out on Monday. We will be collecting data and then taking some steps to work with our student groups on these issues. Next week we will be sending a parent survey regarding the same issues and seeking parent advisors to dialogue with us.

Historically, many of our teachers and staff have been referred to our school through families, students, and colleagues already connected with Natomas Charter School. Ensuring we have fully qualified and diverse educators across our organization takes the entire community. If you know anyone who is interested in joining our school we are hosting a regional charter school collaborative job fair on Saturday April 1st at Star Academy from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm. More details about the job fair can be found on our school Facebook page. Please share the details widely with your networks.
Our high school musical, Something Rotten, opens Thursday night! The show runs March 17th-18th and March 23rd-25th. The cast and crew features alumni and current students from all five academies! Get your tickets at https://www.benarts.org before they sell out!
As student develop, they start to ask more questions about their identity and talk about it with friends at school. As middle schoolers, they often do not have the vocabulary, knowledge, and emotional intelligence to have healthy conversations. As a result, these conversations are unhelpful or even hurtful to student. Here are some resources for parents to start having more conversations at home.
