February is Black History Month and we have numerous student and teacher-led activities going on across all campuses to celebrate African American history and culture. At the end of the month, the African American Family Network is collaborating with Natomas Charter School to host a Black History Month Showcase on February 29th from 6:00-8:00 pm in the Benvenuti Performing Arts Center. We are looking for students from all academies to share their performance talents with our community.
Overview: Get ready for a great evening as we come together as a community to enjoy a night of bingo, a silent auction, as we raise funds for future overnight field trips. LEAP has a goal of raising $5,000 to offset the costs of next year's overnight field trips. In addition to our silent auction, additional game cards and food can be purchased, so bring cash or your checkbook!

Two Ways to Support the Event
Overview: Our homeroom program offers an array of social-emotional learning opportunities for students. This year, we are excited to introduce a new addition to our curriculum: Screenagers. We strongly encourage parents to take the time to explore the accompanying parent resources. As part of our initiative, a Parent University session was held on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, providing parents with the chance to view one of the films. Another viewing opportunity will be available in May. In the meantime, please access supplementary resources to foster ongoing conversations at home.

Families are an integral of the NCS community and our partners in supporting students in reaching success each year. Our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) committee has been focused on culture at NCS and how to continually improve to make the most inclusive school environment possible. The DEI Committee has put together a survey to collect feedback from parents, guardians, and families about how the school is supporting students and families. At the end of the survey you will have an option to sign up to be a part of the listening circles where you can give more feedback.
We would appreciate your feedback by Friday, February 2nd so that we can use it in our planning processes. 2024 NCS Family Culture & Climate Survey Are you interested in joining a focus group to share more about the NCS culture? Please provide your name on the Focus Group Form.
