Dear Families,
The Sacramento Police Department is investigating last week's social media posts, which appear to be part of a nationwide hoax affecting multiple school districts. Similar posts have been reported throughout our region, leading to the arrests of several teens.
At Natomas Charter, student safety is our top priority. We are working closely with the Natomas USD Safety and Safe Schools department. Our staff undergoes rigorous training each year, including Violent Critical Incident (VCI) training, and students regularly participate in emergency drills. We also want to remind everyone of the importance of safely storing firearms to prevent unauthorized access.
This situation underscores the ongoing conversations within our community about the dangers of social media use among young people. Viral trends like this one show how one or two poor choices on social media can lead to life-changing consequences. Additionally, several Leading Edge students spread incorrect information to the NCS student body through group text chat, email, and social media. In times like these, it is crucial to maintain clear and accurate communication channels. We encourage families to monitor their children’s social media use, discuss the dangers of sharing such content, and promote responsible online behavior.
All safety information can be reported through: (1) Safety Reporting Form, (2) in person to a school administrator , or (3) over the phone to a school administrator.
Overview: Every year, Leading Edge holds a week of conferences to support a range of student needs, whether they are academic, social-emotional, or behavioral. Our office will be reaching out this week to families we need to meet with.
Request a Conference: If you are interested in scheduling a conference with our staff, please contact Linda Mattsson-Boze at: lmattsson@natomascharter.org.

All student restrooms on the Blackrock campus are outfitted with vape sensors. These sensors are an important tool to help us keep our campus safe, but can be triggered by any aerosol device. To prevent unnecessary alerts and disruptions, please ensure that students do not bring aerosol products to school, including spray deodorant, body spray, hairspray, dry shampoo, etc. Your cooperation helps us maintain a focused learning environment.
