As part of our commitment to providing the best educational experience for our students, we are working to rebuild our field lesson traditions and programs. Historically, Leading Edge students have ventured out into the community to learn, engage, and grow.
As part of this work, we would like to provide more clarity and resources around financial donations for field trips, supplies, and specialty classes.

This section outlines the guidelines and procedures for collecting fees, donations, and managing supply replacements within Leading Edge Academy. The school is committed to adhering to all relevant legal requirements, including Education Code § 35330, to ensure transparency and fairness in financial matters. The following information are key points from the CDE FISCAL MANAGEMENT ADVISORY 20-01.
Fee Collection:
1.1. Purpose: Fees may be collected for specific purposes, such as extracurricular activities, field trips, or other educational programs. These fees should be reasonable and directly related to the activity or program for which they are collected.
1.2. Fee Waivers: Leading Edge Academy recognizes that some families may face financial hardship. We will provide fee waiver options for eligible students as required by Education Code § 35330. Fee waiver eligibility and the application process will be clearly communicated to parents and guardians.
1.3. Fee Transparency: All fee schedules will be clearly communicated to parents and guardians in advance, including the purpose of each fee, its amount, and the due date. This information will be made available on the school's website and in written communication to parents.
Donations:
2.1. Voluntary Nature: Donations made to Leading Edge are entirely voluntary. The school will not coerce or pressure parents, guardians, or students into making donations.
2.2. Use of Donations: Donations received will be used to enhance educational opportunities and support school programs. The allocation of donated funds will be transparent and aligned with the donor's intent whenever possible.
Supply Replacements:
3.1. Lost or Damaged Supplies: In the event that a student loses or damages school-owned supplies or textbooks, parents or guardians will be responsible for the replacement cost, as permitted by Education Code § 35330. The replacement cost will be communicated to the parents or guardians, and payments will be collected promptly.
3.2. Transparency: The process for determining replacement costs will be transparent and in accordance with the law. Parents or guardians will have the opportunity to inspect and dispute charges for lost or damaged supplies.
3.3. Payment Plans: For families experiencing financial hardship, [School Name] may offer payment plans or alternative arrangements to ease the financial burden of supply replacements, as permitted by Education Code § 35330.
