Dear Vanderhoof Families:
As we embark on the end of another school year, I'm feeled with so much emotion. I watched and celebrated my youngest graduating from highschool this past Friday and I'm reminded once again how important every milestone in our childs lives really is to us as parents, educators and principals. Make sure to pause, reflect and take photos this next week. We are so proud of all of our Roadrunners and the growth they have made this year. Enjoy the moments and celebrate together. Thank you for allowing us to be a part of this incredible journey.
We are coming to our last few days of school and we are excited to celebrate all our students' accomplishments and growth. Congratulations to all of our Roadrunners for SOARing leaps and bounds this year! Our Trimester 3 Awards Ceremony, where we recognize students for being SAFE, Outstanding, Accountable and Respectful, both academically and behaviorally, will be held on Tuesday, May 21st. Please see the schedule below.
I'm looking forward to seeing all of our 5th grade families for continuation and our Kindergarten families for their celebrations on Thursday, May 23rd. Let’s finish this last week strong and proud! Thanks for being such a wonderful support throughout this year.
Remember to join us for our annual Community Night and 5th Grade Kick-Ball game on Wednesday, May 22nd . Don’t forget Friday , May 24th is our last day of school, we will dismiss at 12:45. Buses will run their normal route on the last day.

🥳SPRING COMMUNITY NIGHT AND 5TH GRADE KICKBALL 🥳
Join us this Wednesday from 3:30-5:30 to cheer on the 5th graders as they battle the teachers in our annual kickball game! This casual get together is an opportunity to connect with other families and let the kids have fun. Bring your own picnic items and chairs. We will provide bounce houses, sports equipment, and a chalk station. Student Government will be running the CASH ONLY Snack Shack with drinks and snacks available for $1.

We have only a few more copies of the yearbook available for sale at Givebacks! If any remain, we will sell them at Community Night ($30 CASH ONLY at Student Government Snack Shack) but these are flying off the shelves like hotcakes so don’t wait or you might miss your chance!
📚SCHOOL SUPPLY KITS 📚
School supply kits are back, which means no more meltdowns in the school supply section at Target or Wal-Mart in August! These kits magically arrive in the student's classroom the first day of school with all of their supplies for the year. Order yours now!
💸RECEIPTS DUE 💸
PTA will be closing out our financial books soon. If anyone has any reimbursement requests outstanding, please submit your Expense Reimbursement form and receipt by May 31st. All checks must be cashed by June 7, 2024. Any checks not cashed by June 7, 2024 will be voided and considered a donation to the PTA.

Thank you for taking the time to share your insights and feedback this year in the Panorama surveys. I wanted to celebrate some of our growth and highlight a few data points.
73% of students state they have support from adults at the school.
84% of students share that their teachers are excited to be teaching their classes.
88% of students feel their teachers are respectful towards them
70% of students feel like their teachers really want to know the answer when asked, “How are you?”
78% of students answered favorably when asked, how often does your teacher make you explain your answer?
84% of students answered favorably when asked, when you feel like giving up, how likely is it that your teachers will make you keep trying?
79% of parents feel like their child has a sense of belonging at school!
73% of parents feel their child feels comfortable asking for help from school adults.
Our school goals this year focused on fostering community as a receiving school and welcoming 150 new students and 1 new faculty member to every team here Vanderhoof. As well as transitioning a special needs center program. We took great pride in targeting these goals. We also implemented a new math resource across all grade levels and have trained the entire staff in Orton-Gillingham phonics and phonemic awareness practices. Our recent DIBELS and MAP assessment data show tremendous growth at all levels.
MAP- Measures of Academic Success Assessment (Target is above 50%)
As a school, we are in the 57th percentile for Math growth from Fall to Spring. 67th percentile Math growth from Winter to Spring.
As a school, we are in the 60th percentile for growth in Reading!

KG-78% at and above grade level a 20% growth since Winter
1st.- 72% at and above grade level a21% growth since Winter.
2nd. - 75% at and above grade level a 10% growth since Winter.
3rd.- 66% at and above grade level a 5% growth since Winter.
As the end of the year is quickly approaching, we remind you that schools fees for the year are due for the 23-24 school year. Your payment of fees ensures the smooth operation of our educational programs and services, benefiting every student in our community. Trimester 3 Awards Ceremony will be held on May 21st. If your student is receiving an award, look for an invitation from your student's teacher in the next few weeks.

All 1st through 5th grade students who are staying in Jeffco for the 2024-2025 school year will bring home a Chromebook for the summer. If your child is not staying in Jeffco Public Schools, please let your child's teacher know so we can collect their device. They will need to bring their device and charger back with them on the first day of school.
