Dear Vanderhoof Families,
I hope you all had a wonderful Labor Day weekend! We had lots of fantasy football happening at my house—this really is one of the best times of year.
Thank you so much for your support during our assessment days. We have another assessment day coming up on Tuesday, September 2nd., and I truly appreciate your flexibility. It was wonderful connecting with some of you who stopped by the library while waiting. Many of our conversations centered on PTA membership and volunteer opportunities—if you haven’t already joined, I encourage you to do so! PTA is even offering a class reward for the class with the most memberships.
Looking ahead, the Harvest Parade is on September 6th. We’d love to see families along the route cheering on our kindergartners and 5th graders as they represent Vanderhoof and the Arvada West Artic Area. This is the first year 5th grade will join the parade becuase as kindergardens they missed out on this amazing opportunity. If you’d like to contribute, we’re collecting bags of candy for the parade. Please drop off donations in the main office by Friday, September 5th.
Finally, I want to share an important update regarding our school budget. See details below. We are committed to keeping Vanderhoof a wonderful learning experience for all students, and we greatly appreciate the support you provide to help us achieve this. More detailed updates on both school and district budgets will be shared at our Accountability Meeting on October 16th, immediately following the PTA meeting.
Thank you for being such an important part of our Vanderhoof community!

Support the PTA!
One easy way to support Vanderhoof and all its great events is by joining the PTA. Your membership helps fund classroom enrichments, Vanderfest, Spelling Bee, Science Fair and much more. Joining does not mean you have to come to meetings, or volunteer at all events, although we will never say no to extra help, it is just an easy way to support your school!!

Running club is coming back on Monday, September 8th! Any student can join (Kindergarten through 5th) click here for the form or have your student swing by the PE bulletin board in the hallway. Reach out to Mr. Buelter with any questions.
I wanted to take a moment to update you on some recent staffing changes. As you know, budget constraints continue to be a challenge, our enrollment continues to fluctuate and in order to maintain small class sizes and minimize the impact on students and teachers, our district budget team supported us in making some difficult decisions.
This year, we have moved from two secretaries in the main office to one, and due to lower enrollment numbers, our kindergarten program shifted from three classes to two.
Jen Rodriguez has accepted a new position at Golden High School, and we wish her all the best in her new role. Moving forward, Kristin Mulvaney and Shelly Ford will be taking care of the office and clinic, and I’m confident that they will continue to provide excellent support for our staff, students, and families.
Thank you all for your continued flexibility, understanding, and dedication to our school community.
Snack Donations Needed!
We are currently in need of snack donations. If you're able to contribute, we would greatly appreciate healthy snacks such as crackers, granola bars, or fruit snacks. Please drop donations off at the main office. Thank you for your support!
The first bell rings at 8:00 AM. Please note that supervision is not available before this time, so students should not be dropped off on the playground early. If your student would like to eat breakfast, they may enter through the main doors at 7:45 AM. Thank you for helping us keep all students safe!
Securly Home App for Families
Since our 4th and 5th graders are now bringing Chromebooks home, we want to provide you with a helpful resource to monitor and support your child’s online activity. The Securly Home app allows families to:
View real-time activity and daily summaries.
Get alerts for flagged content like bullying or self-harm.
Set rules, filters, and offline schedules (like bedtime or family time).
Pause the internet on school devices when needed.
