Dear Vanderhoof Families,
Yay for welcoming February! It’s always nice to see all the red and pink around our school this month as we continue to focus on acts of kindness. Students did a great job on Friday participating in our annual Shelter in Place drill. This drill helps us practice in case of extreme weather in our area, and all students did a wonderful job listening to their teachers and following our protocols successfully.
We have lots of fun things happening this month! The Lakewood Cultural Center will be coming to our school for an in-house field trip for the whol school on February 11, and Valentine exchanges will take place on February 12—teachers will be sending out details. As a reminder, there will be no school on February 13th.

Art Club is back! Starting Tuesday, Feb. 3rd we will meet each Tuesday for 8 weeks. Spots are limited, so please fill out and return a permission slip along with check/cash for your dues by Tuesday, Feb.10th. Permissions slips are located on the Art Happenings board or ask Mrs. Popejoy. Below are the meeting dates:
We will meet at 7:15 - 8:00 am on the following Tuesdays:
February: 3rd, 10th, 17th, and 24th
March: 3rd, 10th, 17th, and 31st
Registration is now open for this year’s Girls are S.M.A.R.T. (Studious, Mighty, Amazing, Resilient, and Talented) Engineering Day hosted by the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) collegiate section at Colorado School of Mines, sponsored by Kiewit!
This event involves gathering students in grades 1st-5th on the Mines campus to participate in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) activities to explore what it means to be an engineer and scientist. This year, Girls are SMART will take place on Saturday, March 7th, 2026, in the Ben H. Parker Student Center Ballrooms at Colorado School of Mines from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

Seo's Martial Arts is coming back and partnering with Vanderhoof Physical Education to do an after school fundraiser! Sign up fast as there are only 50 spots available and the class starts on February 10th. Check Friday folders for permission forms or ask your student for their form from PE class. Our Yearbooks are coming soon, but we need your help!!! To make our yearbooks the best it can be, we NEED your pictures. From the 1st day of school, recess, musicals, any and everything we want them.
