Unit Brief
Learners will develop skills in planning and delivering training sessions to improve fitness.
Unit Information
Do you like to keep fit and healthy? Maybe you also want to become faster or stronger and might not be sure how to improve these types of fitness. In this unit, you will explore the training methods that are used by coaches and athletes to improve different types of fitness and overall
performance.
You will try lots of these training methods yourself and will learn which skills are needed to plan and deliver training sessions for others. You will learn how athletes’ training programmes are designed to meet the needs of their sport and find out how different training methods are used to keep training interesting. You will improve your skills and confidence in creating training plans for other people. Completing the tasks and activities in this unit will develop your planning and communication skills, and your organisation and time management.
Knowing how to select the right types of training and deliver sessions effectively is important if you want to coach or train others and improve their fitness, or if you want to progress to a Level 2 qualification in sport. The transferable and sector skills you develop in this unit can enable you to
progress to further learning. They will also support you in completing the core skills units in Group A of the qualification.
