Good Morning! Today is E-Day and we have Art. Today we will Zoom at 10:00. Don't forget to fill out your Bingo Boards so we can play! Our wonderful PTA is holding a virtual book fair. Click on the link to the left and help support them!

PHONICS

First, have a grown up read synonyms list. Glue list into your Red Reading Journal.

There are two ways you can complete this activity.

  1. Print synonym task cards and hang them around the house. Your student can find the task card with a grown up. Students should answer the task cards as you go, taking them down and circling the correct answer. Parents please make sure they are answering correctly.

  2. If you do not want to print the task cards you can simply download the file and complete it online. Please make sure your child is finding the correct synonym.

Last, play the sounds of ow game with a parent. Remember that the ow has two sounds. The words with the picture of owl say /ow/ The words with the picture of the bow have the long o sounds. Take turns rolling a die and color the box when you read the word correctly. The person who has the most boxes their color wins!

Writing- print and complete one of the following Mother's day writing prompts. Ask dad to help you print and complete it. (This assignment is optional)

Spelling-Use your last 5 spelling words in a sentence. Use various punctuation endings in your sentences.

Julie Surfer of the Week

Reading

First, read aloud the Julie Surfer of the Week keep book. Then assemble the keep book. Illustrate , pages 1,2, and 3. Practice re-reading for fluency.



Last, read aloud Animals Move Like This from EPIC! (It will be assigned to you.)

This is a two day assignment. The book is long so feel free to break it up as needed. The reading response questions are also due on Friday.

Then answer the following questions in writing using complete sentences.


  1. What are some ways animals move?

  2. Why do some animals spend time in trees?

  3. What does pounce mean?

  4. What are some animal parts that help them swim?

  5. What dancer did you like best?

  6. What are some ways you move like animals?


Math- Log into pearsonsuccessnet.com to complete the math assignment. Complete lesson 18.9. Please watch the video, do the guided practice and take the quiz. Don’t skip any of the parts! Complete the workbook page that goes with 18.9

Science:

Next, listen to What If You Had Animal Teeth?

STEM project for fun-(2 days) Think about all the animals we’ve seen and all the animal parts we’ve learned about so far. Then create/design/draw your own animal using all different animal parts and label. (Ex- spider legs, lion head, rhino horn, giraffe neck, cheetah teeth...etc) Be creative!

Looking for something for mom for Mother's Day. Maybe you can make her a card. This video shows you how! (optional)
