Thursday 3/19

Good morning first grade! Today is E-Day. We have Music today! I hope everyone is doing well. Did you get outside to play today? My kids drove their cars around the backyard! It was nice to get some fresh air! I'd love to see some pictures of what you have been up to! Below is the work for you to complete today! I have included two fun videos at the bottom of the page for you to watch if you want!

Reading-Listen to Dinorella story below. After watching complete writing assignment.

Writing- After listening to Dinorella. Tell me which version of Cinderella he/she liked the best and why? (Cinderella, Prince Cinders, Dinorella Cinderella Rex) Start with an opening sentence. Give me three reasons why you liked it the best using details from the text. End with a closing sentence.

Reading- Make Star Subject Fairy Tale Keep Book.

On today's page is the google doc for The Fairy Tale Keep book. If you have a printer, print out the page. If not, you can hand write it for your child onto a keep book.

To make the book:

  1. Take two blank papers, put them together and fold in half.

  2. Staple at the crease.

  3. Read Fairy tale keep book.

  4. Students cut out Fairy tale pages

  5. Students glue pages into book

  6. Students should begin to illustrate the cover, pages 1 and 2. The illustration should match text to show understanding of reading and comprehension. If students want to illustrate more they can!!

The kids are familiar with keep book making! They should be able to walk you through it!

Lastly, read a book of your choice and read for 10 minutes. Record it in the Daily Reading Log

Star Subject: Fairy Tales

Fairy Tales Keep Book

Math- (Topic 14-3) Log into pearsonsuccessnet.com to complete the math assignment. It is topic 14 lesson 3. Please watch the video, do the guided practice and take the quiz. Next log into IXL and complete the teacher suggested activities.

Phonics/Spelling -

Take the 2 pages of /ea/ words and glue them into the Red reading journal. (They are in the orange folder) Read them to yourself once, then read them together with an adult

Then re-read your /ea/ keep book to yourself. Then get your favorite stuffed animal and read to them!

(Optional- If you and your child are tired of sitting in front of the screen take the /ea/ spelling words and the sight words. Write them on small pieces of paper or note cards. Then hide them around the house. Have your child go on a word hunt to find the words. Then have them read them to you. We do this in my class so the activity is familiar to them. )

Social Studies- Read pages 12-13. Listen to Brain-pop Junior - in search bar type in 13 colonies. Click on the video to watch and then have your child take the quiz to check for understanding.

Watch and enjoy the Prince Cinders Cartoon video (optional)

This video is called Lunch Doodles with Mo Willems! He is the author of Don't let the Pigeon Drive the Bus. I thought you might enjoy watching it. (Optional)
