Signs of Spring Keep Book

Reading/Science (cross curricular) - Make Star Subject -Signs of Spring Keep Book.

To the left is the The Signs of Spring Keep book. If you have a printer, print out the page. If not, you can hand write it for your child, into a keep book.

To make the book: (It is the same way you made it last week)

  1. Take two blank papers, put them together and fold in half.

  2. Staple at the crease.

  3. Read Signs of Spring keep book.

  4. Students cut out Spring pages

5. Students glue pages into book

6. Students should begin to illustrate the cover, pages 1 and 2. The illustration should match text to show understanding of reading and comprehension. If students want to illustrate more they can!!

The kids are familiar with keep-book making. They should be able to walk you through it!

Phonics/Spelling -

If you and your child are tired of sitting in front of the computer screen, take the long o spelling words and the word wall words outside! Get some chalk and write our spelling and word wall words on your sidewalk or driveway. You can send me pictures of them and I will post on our page! If you don’t want to go outside, complete the activity on a mini white board or piece of paper. After your child writes the word check to make sure he/she spelled it correctly. If your child is having a hard time spelling the word, remind him/her to say the word slowly to hear all the sounds in the word.

Next, take the pages of long o words and glue them into the Red reading journal. Only glue in the words that are circled in the pictures. Throw the other lists out. Read them to yourself once, then read them together with an adult.

Last, re-read your long o keep book to yourself. Then get your favorite stuffed animal and read to them!

Math (Topic 14-8) Log into pearsonsuccessnet.com to complete the math assignment. It is topic 14 lesson 8. Please watch the video, do the guided practice and take the quiz. Don’t skip any of the parts! Then complete a workbook page that goes along with 14-8.

Optional- Today’s math lesson is about cups, pints, and quarts. A great hands on way to teach this lesson is through cooking. Cooking is a perfect opportunity for kids to learn about capacity. It is also a great way to teach the importance of following directions carefully. Find a recipe together and go down the list of ingredients and their amounts. Measure out the ingredients together. Send me photos of you cooking and I will put them on our page!

Word wall- Log onto IXL. Complete teacher suggested activities. It will be a review of old and new sight words.

Guidance/SEL lesson

Here is a nice lesson and message from our guidance counselor Ms. Andresini:

I am sending you my first virtual counseling lesson. This is not meant to be added work for students, but rather, a mindfulness break in their week to practice some SEL.
