It’s the best practice known and applied by all.
A standard is an operating procedure defined according to best best practice and fixed in such a way as to standardise the performance of a task.
The standard, by formalising good practice, enables practices, allows for the maintenance over time of improvements made to the process on the process.
The standard acts as a wedge that prevents a return to return to bad practices.

Establishing standards can help us solidify improvements. When we make improvements, it is like pushing a stone to a hillside. Our purpose is to push the stone to the top of the mountain. When the stone reach the top of the mountain, then we let go, what will happen?
Obviously, the stone will follow the slope and fall back to its original place. We had to push it up again and again. How to ensure that the stone does not fall back? The wooden wedges commonly used in carpentry can help us fix the stone to the top of the mountain.
It is the same for improvement. Through standards, we can consolidate and maintain our improvement to sustain the results.

Here is the list of observable situations to allow you to evaluate your Organization
This grid corresponds to version 11.2 for which we have changed the vocabulary to make it accessible to all actors at Decathlon (stores, warehouses, factories, brands & services).
To reach a level (A/B/C/D), all the observable situations of the level must be fulfilled.
If none of the observable situations are applied, it means that you have the level E.
Everything in red indicates the people involved in the action.
Everything written in bold black corresponds to the important points of the action.
