Understand

Act
Through feedback, coaching and formalisation of action plans with a deadline. 👉Example of a grid to formalize
Be aware of Good Practices, problems and waste
Do not judge, find out what is wrong in the process and not in the employee
Take a precise subject connected to the short term (3 months to come) linked to the employee
Do not assume but understand the facts
Be in an environment that allows for a quality exchange (room, silence, no chat in //)
At the end, share your observations in order to set up a trusting exchange and start solving problems
Do not hesitate to remind the participants of the fundamentals of the CI adapted to the situation and the methods of problem solving
Formalise with an astonishment report, also mentioning what works well
When I do a Gemba Walk
In my field trip: I observe and try to understand
When an audit is an observation:
I observe that it is "good
I see that it is "not good"
There is a real educational idea with the Gemba: if necessary, we take advantage of it to re-explain a business gesture, a standard...
During the round, I congratulate. If the standards are met, I praise.
I highlight good practices.
