El Futuro es Nuestro

Mission: We began in 2022 as an insurgent caucus within our union, the Farm Labor Organizing Committee (FLOC). It’s Our Future Know Your Rights Fund (IOF) is a worker-led organization formed to combat the exploitative working and living conditions faced by H2A guest workers and immigrant farmworkers living and working in the Southeast U.S., primarily in North Carolina, and to increase rank-and-file leadership within the farmworker movement and, more broadly, U.S. labor movement. We achieve this by leadership development and building organizational capacity, and through education and training, outreach and organizing, direct action and mutual support via coalitions. We envision a world in which farmworkers’ human rights are honored and where they are able to work with dignity, fairness, and self-determination. To accomplish this, the historical and deeply-rooted imbalance that characterizes farm labor in the U.S. must be challenged and all impacted parties must be at the table to address industry-wide problems. We see IOF being able to collaborate for broader policy change – for example with NC OSHA heat regulations – as we grow and develop advocacy skills.
