Classical Academy Online - News

May 27th - 31st

Dear CAO Families,

Here we are at our final two weeks of finishing strong! Classical Academy Online will be open Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of this week for students to come in to complete last minute work. All seniors will finish up this week and prepare for graduation next week. As students enter CAO, they will have their work samples, logs, and progress checked by our amazing lab supervisors. Then, they will be assisted in connecting with the correct teacher and subject for guidance. There will be no workshops or self directed learning. Instead, we will be very intentional with student progress and success. Please connect with your cohort teacher, academic coach, or myself, if you have any questions.

Thank you to everyone for your amazing partnership.

Dr. Stacey Perez

CAO Graduation

Emmanuel Faith Community Church

Open Seating; all are welcome.

A Message from CAO's 2019 Valedictorian:

Sara Mittman

"Classical Academy Online was an incredible blessing for me these past several years. The immense support from teachers and faculty enabled me to pursue my educational aspirations through a personalized high-school education. By having the flexibility to take online classes anytime and anywhere, I was also able to take Palomar classes starting my sophomore year (while continuing my weight-lifting athletics and participating on the swim and dive team). With this foundation, I feel extremely prepared to begin my next journey at UCLA this fall, where I will be studying Chemical Engineering at the Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Sciences."

A Message from CAO's 2019 Salutatorian:

Camille Hoffman

"Classical Academy Online has helped shape me into the person I am today. By going to CAO in my sophomore year, I was granted a flexible schedule that my previous high school didn't offer. Furthermore, I could learn at my own pace, and every teacher I had was always more than willing to help when needed. These combined factors made school feel a whole lot less overwhelming than in years prior. This freedom allowed me to explore my interests outside of academic life; I tutored children for a little while, started volunteering at farm animal sanctuaries, and got involved with local activism. These things fueled me with purpose and drive, and they ultimately helped me become more successful in school, too. In the fall, I will be attending Western Washington University. I'm still not completely set on a major, but I plan on studying either environmental education, animal behavior, and/or journalism. All I know for certain is that I will continue to speak up for people, animals, and the planet; and that I will always be grateful for the time I've spent at CAO."

Volunteer Flyer 2019.pdf

We have 3 school matinees at the Center Theatre of CCAE - all of which still have good availability at this point. They are all at 10 am on May 22, 23, and 24. Tickets are $3 for students and teachers/parents/chaperones, and may be reserved through our school's front office. The office manager is Mireya Barajas mbarajas@eusd.org or 760-432-2452. The show is probably most appropriate for grades 5 and up, and should run approximately 2 hours with intermission.

Parent Volunteer Opportunities!

Parent volunteers help keep our programs running! Remember every $10 spent counts as a volunteer hour.

The Student Store is an ongoing fundraiser that helps us purchase extra items for classrooms, fun events for students, and teacher appreciation.

We will always take donations of the following items to help with this fundraiser:

Bottled water, gatorade, juice, chocolate milk and any other single serving packaged drinks. Granola bars  (kind bars), Chips, Oatmeal, Fruit cups, Pretzels, Frozen single serve foods, Dried fruit, Hummus cups, Yogurt, Any other healthy options!

As we do have students with peanut allergies, we ask that no peanut products be purchased for the student store and that the student lounge remain peanut free zones.

Here are a few supplies we can always use:
